We are looking for a creative, forward thinking and motivated Band 6 Practitioner. The service is part of the exciting development of the stepped model of care across Luton (Central) where the CAS team provide early intervention and community support for Young People with mild to moderate mental health concerns who would not meet the criteria of a clinic based CAMHS.
The post holder will work with our community partners and be fully integrated in educational settings, GP practices and our Family partners in Luton Social Services. We also enjoy working with our excellent service user participation team and are committed to involving service users in all service development.
Main duties of the job
The wider CAS team comprises of 5 MHST (Mental Health Support Teams) but the post holder would be working in the multi-disciplinary CAS Team to develop new services to enhance sustainable better emotional Health and Wellbeing and community resilience. The post holder will provide comprehensive assessment, risk management and interventions for children and young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties, and their families. Our work is underpinned by strong values to treat each other, service users and agency partners with respect and care. The post holder will be working across Luton (Central), and it is essential that the post holder is an essential car user.
Qualifications
* Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession such as: (Family & Systemic Practitioner /Occupational Therapist / Nurse (Mental Health) / Social Worker / Art therapist/ EMHP/CWP
* Senior EMHPs/CWPs with advanced post qualification experience. All applicants must be BABCP accredited or eligible to apply for accreditation within 6 months.
* Appropriate level of qualification for your profession e.g. PG Diploma, BSc, Masters.
* Post Grad training or experience to support the needs of different children, young people and their families
Experience
* Experience of working with CYP across the full age-range (5-18)
* Experience of working with parents/caregivers
* Experience of delivering low-intensity interventions for social anxiety
* Recognising when core interventions are appropriate for neurodiverse CYP and being able to make necessary adaptations
* Experience of delivering low-intensity interventions for OCD
Skills
* Experience and skills of giving appropriate constructive feedback to professional colleagues at a range of levels in the system, and of following necessary procedures when required
* Able to manage own time and caseload
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Skilled in emergency and crisis assessments
* Teaching skills, both in clinical setting and education centres
Knowledge
* Understanding of an overarching, multi-component Whole School Approach, and how elements of this interact with one another
* Knowledge, experience, and competence in applying and following Safeguarding legislation and pathways (including contextual safeguarding)
* Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health and Mental Capacity Acts
* Knowledge of development in inter agency partnership
