Overview
Restructuring Associate role at Pinsent Masons in London (4+ years PQE with contentious insolvency experience). Open to candidates based in one of our regional offices in England who are willing to travel to London when required.
Responsibilities
* Advise insolvency practitioners and financial institutions; experience advising other stakeholders such as litigation funders, private equity funds, debt funds and company directors is desirable.
* Involve in pursuing and defending claims arising out of insolvency, antecedent transaction claims, cross-border insolvency disputes and other asset recovery processes.
* Develop ongoing relationships with existing clients and pitch for new opportunities;
* Work as part of an international team on national and international matters;
* Contribute to high-value, complex restructurings at an early stage with the aim of improving returns and, where possible, avoiding insolvency.
Team and Practice
Nationally, the Restructuring team advises financial institutions, turnaround and insolvency practitioners, directors, litigation funders, private equity and debt funds, and other stakeholders on recovery and turnaround strategies. The team acts for major banks, lenders, and specialist lenders and funds in distressed and special situations, including litigation and administration funding. The practice is known for complex, cross-border insolvency litigation.

* Advising FRP Advisory Limited as administrators of Safe Hands Plans Limited on proceedings in the UK, Cayman Islands and Jersey to recover substantial assets.
* Advising RSM UK Restructuring as administrators of Lendy Limited, including claims against former directors for approximately £8m and freezing injunctions.
* Advising Teneo as liquidators of Diamond Manufacturers Limited (Vashi) on complex recovery action in England and overseas.
* Advising a creditor on a complex cross-border debt claim and related investigations into alleged misconduct.
* Advising Retail Realisation on the financial restructuring and administration of the Paperchase group.
* Advising on restructuring implications of the bankruptcy ofKatie Price and other matters.
* Advising lenders on the take-private and financial restructuring of French Connection; advising Nostrum Oil & Gas on a $1bn Scheme of Arrangement and related noteholder compromises; advising Modella Capital on restructuring and administration of Ted Baker’s UK business.

* Experience in a City, national or regional firm; technically excellent with strong commercial awareness and client development mindset

* Strong academic background and excellent communication and organizational skills
