Job Description
The essential ingredient at the heart of our business is our people so we are searching for a Kitchen Porter with a background in food catering services would be desirable but not necessary as full training is given to join our business and work at one of our highly prestigious education settings.
The Brentwood School, in Brentwood, Essex are looking for staff 8am-4pm, Term Time only. This position offers a fantastic work life balance weekly, plus all of the school holidays off, including the whole of the Christmas period, not returning until the New Year.
As a Kitchen Porter you will…
As well as having an excellent presentation, organisational and communication skills, you will be able to demonstrate a real passion for food & service and possess bags of enthusiasm.
This position offers a fantastic work life balance as it is a term time only position working five days a week during term time. There are no weekends, however, if you are looking for overtime, some weekend and evening work is available.
The hourly rate is £ paid for 175 working days plus 28 days holiday pay.
Strategic
1. Contribute to the attainment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the business
Operational
2. Assist Head Chef & Chefs with food preparation and production throughout the outlet, variably for lunch and hospitality, ensuring that the agreed operating standards are consistently achieved, as agreed with the senior chef on duty
3. Ensure that the production and service of food/meals is delivered to the specified requirements and agreed standards, as agreed with the senior chef on duty
4. Assist with the receipt and storage of goods deliveries for the service outlet as required, ensuring that that control systems and standards are adhered to at all times
5. Undertake personal responsibility for Food Hygiene, Health and Safety relating to food production and services whilst performing duties, consistently following required legal compliance and best practice in line with policy and procedure and embracing the Zero Harm culture.
6. Assist with the safe keeping and maintenance of the equipment and machinery to the required standards of hygiene and safety
7. Undertake professional communication with colleagues within the workplace
8. Participate with colleagues in a regularly convened catering staff forums
9. Work & liaise effectively & supportively with all other Somerset Larder colleagues & departments in the interests of contributing to a professional work environment
10. Assist and support across the operational boundaries within Somerset Larder as and when agreed and the business dictates, in-keeping with the role and/or working development opportunities

11. Observe policies and procedures which are introduced for continually improved food production and services, in liaison with other colleagues as appropriate
General
12. Ensure that all personal actions are in line with the overall environmental aims of the school, undertaking all tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner - promoting environmental sustainability where opportunity presents.
