We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a dynamic consultancy in Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered or near-Chartered engineer to lead and deliver a diverse range of projects, from large-scale developments valued between £5 million and £200 million to detailed assessments of existing structures.
The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for providing comprehensive structural engineering services, working independently under the guidance of senior management, and having ample opportunities for professional development and career progression.
Key Responsibilities
1. Report directly to senior management, taking direction from the lead of the structural engineering team.
2. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring deliverables are issued in accordance with the project programme, to the required quality standard, and within budget.
3. Monitor and report on the financial performance of projects, including resourcing requirements, to senior management, and assist in managing team resources to align with the commercial and business objectives of the team.
4. Serve as lead or sole designer, responsible for the full design process from outline scheme to detailed design, producing technical deliverables.
5. Conduct structural analysis and design in compliance with the Eurocode suite of design codes, ensuring designs are economic, sustainable, efficient, and buildable.
6. Oversee the production of detailed design drawings.
7. Review and check calculation packages, drawings, specifications, reports, and other project deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality assurance procedures.
8. Supervise and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and apprentices, actively contributing to their professional development.
9. Perform surveys and inspections, producing high-quality technical reports with appropriate recommendations, and present findings to clients as necessary.
Skills and Experience
10. MEng, BSc & MSc, or BSc with extensive post-graduate experience in a field relevant to structural engineering
11. Chartered (or near Chartered) status
12. Demonstrable experience in the design of structures in concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.
13. Experience with Finite Element Design
14. Proficiency in 2D and 3D structural design packages such as TEKLA Structural Designer, TEDDS, Masterseries, etc.
15. Experience working with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and within a 3D environment.
16. Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is beneficial but not essential.
17. Demonstrable UK experience
18. Hold a current UK driving licence.
