Quantity Surveyor – Civils
Location: IpswichSalary: £70k + car allowance and benefitsType: Permanent
We are currently working on behalf of a well-established and respected civil engineering contractor who is seeking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a strong pipeline of infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor with proven experience in civils, infrastructure, highways, utilities, or related sectors, looking to join a stable business offering long-term progression.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of civil engineering projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Key responsibilities include:
Commercial management of civils and infrastructure projects
Preparation and submission of valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
Cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle
Procurement and commercial management of subcontractors and suppliers
Management of variations, change control, and contractual entitlements
Production of cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and commercial reports
Working closely with site teams to ensure accurate cost control
Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector
Strong knowledge of civil engineering works such as earthworks, drainage, roads, utilities, or structures
Good understanding of construction contracts (NEC/JCT experience preferred)
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Relevant construction or commercial qualifications (preferred)
