Job Purpose

As a Procurement Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the procurement function by ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of materials, fabrics, and ancillary components required for sofa manufacturing. You will also provide general administrative support to the procurement team, including maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and managing supplier communications, to ensure smooth day to day operations across the function.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Purchasing

* Use the M1 ERP system to create and process purchase orders in line with business requirements.
* Place call off requirements with suppliers on a timely basis to meet production needs.
* Ensure suppliers maintain correct levels of stock in line with business backorder reports.
* Maintain accurate stock data in M1 by requesting and updating supplier stock reports.
* Ensure contractual requirements (e.g., excess fabric stock) are flagged and passed to the relevant commodity lead.
* Support integration of ancillary components into the procurement function.

Supplier & Stakeholder Management

* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply and resolve any supply chain issues.
* Communicate effectively with internal teams (Planning, Production, Logistics) to ensure alignment on material availability and production requirements.

Stock & Reporting

* Monitor and report on stock availability to the Planning team.
* Highlight under/over-planned stock levels and collaborate with planners to investigate and amend processes.
* Maintain Excel spreadsheets for stock management and create purchase orders accordingly.
* Generate procurement reports and analysis for colleagues and management.

Essential Skills & Experience:

* Good PC skills, with strong working knowledge of MS Excel, email, and ERP systems (M1 preferred).
* Ability to communicate at all levels and establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Analytical and data-driven, with the ability to interpret data and highlight trends or risks.
* Problem-solving skills with a logical and methodical approach.

Desirable:

* Experience in a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
* Knowledge of procurement practices within manufacturing or related industries.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months
