Job Introduction


The Bradford Libraries Development team is dedicated to delivering inclusive and high-quality library services across the Bradford district. They oversee the delivery of the Libraries Connected Universal Offers and how the library service contributes to Bradford Council Priorities.

Are you passionate about promoting reading and cultural engagement in communities? Bradford Council is seeking a dynamic Development Officer to lead adult reading initiatives and cultural events across our libraries.

Key Responsibilities

As Development Officer for Reading and Culture, you will be responsible for planning and managing reading promotions and cultural events aimed at adult audiences. You'll support and train library staff to deliver engaging and inclusive activities, while also developing community-focused services in collaboration with local groups. The role involves managing stock selection and supplier relationships, as well as leading short-term development projects and securing external funding to enhance service delivery.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone with a genuine interest in and knowledge of contemporary literature and culture. You should have a minimum of two years' experience in a cultural or educational development role, along with proven skills in project and budget management. Strong communication and partnership working abilities are essential to succeed in this role.
