First Military Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to oversee installation projects. The ideal candidate must work under pressure, meet deadlines, and proactively deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high mechanical standards. A self-starter comfortable working independently or within a project team, capable of managing multiple mechanical projects simultaneously. Ex-military personnel are encouraged to apply, but all candidates will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure mechanical projects are completed to Safety, Quality, Time, and Cost standards, consistently exceeding client expectations.
2. Manage the construction, installation, and handover of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and associated mechanical equipment.
3. Take projects from purchase order through to completion: verify specifications, organise staff and materials, and coordinate specialist mechanical contractors (e.g., pump, valve, and generator installation).
4. Chair project meetings and attend site meetings with Operations Director and client representatives.
5. Plan mechanical project programmes (MS Project), including resource allocation and scheduling.
6. Prepare and maintain site documentation (H&S files, mechanical drawings, commissioning records).
7. Administer contracts, manage variations, and communicate implications to cost and programme.
8. Monitor and manage mechanical project risks.
9. Track mechanical installation progress against programme.
10. Ensure completion of snagging and compilation of operation, maintenance, and mechanical manuals.
11. Archive mechanical project records and documentation appropriately.
Skills and Qualifications:
12. Proven experience in mechanical project management (minimum 3 years) within commercial, industrial, or technical environments.
13. Trade qualification or equivalent mechanical background preferred.
14. Knowledge of mechanical systems installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
15. Understanding of risk assessments, method statements, COSHH, and CDM2015.
16. Health & safety qualification (min SSSTS, preferred SMSTS); IOSH or NEBOSH desirable.
17. PC literate – MS Word, Excel, and MS Project.
18. Clean driving license.

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000
