We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Research Nurse to join a dynamic and supportive research team delivering high-quality clinical research. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative research studies while supporting the development of evidence-based practice and improving outcomes for patients in the future.
As a Research Nurse, you will play a key role in the delivery of a wide range of clinical research studies. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure studies are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with study protocols, regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
The role involves supporting the identification and recruitment of eligible participants, conducting study visits and research assessments, collecting clinical data and samples, and maintaining accurate research documentation. You will work closely with investigators, research teams, and external partners to ensure the smooth running of studies and a positive experience for research participants.
This role offers the opportunity to develop research skills, contribute to service development, and support the growth of a research-active clinical environment.
Main duties of the job
As a Research Nurse, you will be responsible for:
* Supporting the set‑up, coordination and delivery of clinical research studies, demonstrating strong organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure studies are conducted safely and efficiently in accordance with study protocols, research governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Providing high‑quality, safe and patient‑centred care, ensuring participants have a positive experience throughout their involvement in the research process.
* Demonstrating excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with both internal and external teams.
* Utilising a range of IT systems and databases to support study delivery, data collection, and accurate documentation.
* Managing a role that combines both clinical and research responsibilities, maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and participant wellbeing.
* Work autonomously within the scope of the role, while also contributing effectively as a member of the wider research and clinical team.
Qualifications
* Registered level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register
* Relevant degree or equivalent in nursing
* Health care management / leadership qualification.
Experience
* Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
* Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
* Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
* Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
* Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
* Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
* Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
* Evidence of Research knowledge
* Experience of clinical trials/ studies/ research coordination
