DMU is an ambitious, globally-minded institution with a relentless focus on delivering high-quality teaching and learning, and research and innovation with a campus-wide focus on providing a sector-leading student experience.

Faculty

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) is a large and diverse faculty delivering innovative education and impactful research across health and social care. We are home to four specialist Schools: The School of Allied Health Sciences, the School of Applied Social Sciences, The Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery, and the Leicester School of Pharmacy.

The School of Allied Health Sciences delivers professionally accredited programmes, benefits from strong placement partnerships, and supports students to develop the capabilities needed by today’s health and social care workforce. Many of our programmes hold professional/statutory body approval and offer practice-based learning opportunities with employers across the region, enabling students to develop the skills sought by graduate employers.

Role

We are seeking an experienced, strategic and inclusive academic leader to head the School of Allied Health Sciences. Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor/Dean and serving as a key member of the Faculty’s senior leadership team, you will shape the direction of the School and build on its established teaching, research and professional strengths.

You will lead the development and delivery of the School’s strategic plans for education, research and enterprise, ensuring alignment with Faculty and University priorities. You will cultivate effective internal and external partnerships and oversee core operational functions, including student recruitment, engagement, access and participation, and graduate outcomes.

You will also oversee budget, resource and people management; ensure compliance with governance and regulatory requirements; and contribute to cross-Faculty initiatives that enhance performance and impact.

Ideal Candidate

You will bring substantial senior leadership experience within higher education or a relevant professional context, combined with an excellent understanding of the health and social care landscape and its regulatory requirements.
