Are you looking for a post based within our York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management Team?

Are you a strong team player, kind, friendly and motivated?

Then we may have the role for you!

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) are looking for an approachable and flexible Facilities Operative to join our team in Scarborough. Experience is not necessary as full training will be given, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.

The working pattern for this role is via a rolling rota that covers the hours that the department is operational - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Overtime/additional hours may also be available at times, for those who wish to do this.

Main duties of the job

Duties include:

1. Linen Room - distributing and assisting with deliveries of linen
2. Portering - helping with patient flow and movement of equipment around the hospital
3. Domestic Duties - cleaning wards/departments and serving tea/coffee/food to patients
4. Environment - removing and segregating waste
5. Catering – working in the kitchen alongside the Catering team

Experience & knowledge

Essential criteria

6. Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

Desirable criteria

7. Able to use small and large pieces of equipment such as Regeneration oven/dishwashers/Floor machinery
8. Experience of working in cleaning industry
9. Previous experience of working in the NHS

Aptitude & personal qualities

10. Flexible and adaptable
11. Good customer service skills

Education & qualifications

Essential criteria

12. Good basic education which includes reading and writing plus basic numeric skills
13. Basic understanding or a willingness to complete appropriate qualifications and training which includes:  knowledge of cleaning procedures,  COSSH procedures  infection prevention and control  Food Hygiene Level 2  Relevant water systems training  Use of equipment such as regeneration ovens, dishwashers and floor machinery

16. Able to work alone and with others as part of a team using initiative
17. Ability to: - Undertake cleaning duties involving lifting items and operating cleaning machinery, some of which is industrial standard. - Work without immediate supervision being able to prioritise, and use own initiative - Work in pressure situations and still maintain standards - Undertake high quality cleaning/catering work
