What you’ll be doing

as an Environmental Site Auditor:
1. Undertake site environmental and permit compliance audits as per the annual audit programme for your geographic region.
2. Carry out audits on any permitted asset, including Sewage Treatment Works, Pumping Stations, Water Treatment Works, Waste and Air emissions facilities.
3. Provide support and training to operational teams so that they understand the requirements of the EMS.
4. Support operational teams in preparation and during external audits.
5. Create summary reports of your audits and present these back to Operational Managers.
6. Highlight any non-compliances and drive actions to completion in your region using the EMS.
7. Provide regular reports on the progress of the audit programme within your region and key areas of risk/concern.

This position will be working hybrid from one of our Thames Water sites in the Thames Valley, Home Counties or London area. A full driving licence is required for this position. The salary for this position is between £50,000 - £55,000, depending on experience.

The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is:

8. An understanding of environmental legislation and permits.
9. Knowledge of wastewater pumping and treatment processes.
10. Can competently use a variety of software packages. (e.g. Microsoft 365)
11. Ability to write audit reports and actions.
12. Understanding of Health and Safety site requirements.

Extra qualities that would be a great fit for our team:

13. Have worked on or with front-line operational teams. (ideally Sewage Treatment Works, Water Treatment Works or Pumping Stations)
14. Experience interacting with Regulators on operational sites.
15. Experience working within ISO accredited management systems.
16. Development of Power BI reports and Microsoft Forms.
17. Knowledge of sludge treatment processes.
18. Knowledge of Pollution Prevention Control Principles.
19. Qualification in an environmental or science-related subject.
20. Auditing qualification.
