Job Description: As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the design and development of LV electrical systems for industrial and infrastructure projects, including Electric Vehicle Charging applications and street lighting systems. You’ll be responsible for producing detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications using EPLAN Electric P8 and Pro Panel. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll lead and mentor junior engineers and apprentices, offering guidance and approval on designs while ensuring projects meet all relevant standards such as BS EN 61439. Your day-to-day work will involve designing, developing, and implementing AC electrical systems and components, collaborating with project managers and mechanical teams to deliver integrated solutions. You’ll also carry out feasibility studies, risk assessments, and offer technical support to the shopfloor to resolve any design-related issues. This Electrical Design Engineer role also includes liaising with suppliers, reviewing vendor proposals, and supporting the procurement process by ensuring technical compliance. You’ll keep up to date with industry standards, applying new technologies and best practices to continuously improve system design and efficiency. Skills & Experience: To thrive as an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll bring: * HND/HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) * Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in electrical design within a manufacturing environment. * Proficiency with EPLAN design software (desirable). * Experience designing and manufacturing electrical control panels or busbar systems. * Strong understanding of LV power distribution systems and relevant standards (IEEE, IEC, BS EN 61349). * Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and support technical development.
