Ayr Housing Aid Centre (now SCIO) was established in 1986 following a Shelter homeless conference. The project isgoverned by the Board consisting of dedicated, committed people passionate about helping those in housing need.The Board provide direction, expertise and oversee the Centre’s work. As Trustees step down we recruit newTrustees with a commitment to our aims and objectives of providing quality advice and engagement services tothose in housing need while alleviating poverty. Our commitment includes positively campaigning for local andnational change and new legislative measures to improve the lives of those we help. There is no greaterhousing need than having no home!
The Centre has been contracted with South Ayrshire Council for many years to provide Advice and Homeless PreventionServices. Our current Contract cycle is 2021-25 and includes a Prison Housing Advice service for East and SouthAyrshire Council. The Centre often seeks additional funding to complement our core Council services to meetadditional demand and reach out to more people in need. We also generate income to support our work throughproviding housing related training and fundraising. The Centre’s Advice services are accredited under theScottish National Standards and Housing Support service is regulated by the Care Inspectorate.
AHAC are looking to appoint a new Treasurer to join our volunteer Board. The Treasurer is responsible for overseeingfinancial processes and obligations including ensuring the organisation remains compliant with meeting its legaland constitutional requirements through robust financial policies, procedures and processes. You will besupported by the Chairperson, Vice-Chair and liaise regularly with key management staff and our Accountants tooversee the charity finances and processes.
We would encourage applications from candidates with financial management, accounting and experience using accountingpackages such as Xero to apply although training is available for the right candidate.
This role includes a minimum of 5 board meetings per year including our AGM (currently a mix of in person andonline). Additional specific meetings are scheduled throughout the year including 4 online Office Bearer(Sub-committee) meetings.

The Role
This role will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of Engender’s operations and administrativesystems.
The role involves working closely with colleagues across the Engender team and the Board, leading on officeadministration tasks including organising meetings, diary management, facilities co-ordination and otheradministration tasks as required.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Administrator, who can provide a comprehensive and efficientadministrative and support function to the organisation. We are looking for someone with experience of providingadministrative support, a good knowledge of general office procedures and excellent IT and literacy skills. Theywill also need good interpersonal skills as team working is essential in this role.

* Proficiency in ITC including Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and the rest of the Microsoft Office suite
* Ableto work flexibly as part of a small team
* Excellent planning and administrative skills, includingattention to detail

This is a full-time position of 35 hours per week (Engender is currently trialling a 4-day working week. During thetrial working hours will be reduced to 30 per week with no impact on salary. The outcome of the trial willdetermine whether Engender adopts this approach in the longer term.)

The position
The Integral Human Development Committee’s purpose is to support, oversee and advise on SCIAF’s internationaldevelopment and emergency work, in a way that contributes to the quality and effectiveness of what SCIAF doesand its accountability to its partners, the communities it serves, supporters, donors and other stakeholders.The Chair of the Integral Human Development Committee will spearhead this purpose and will also serve as aTrustee on SCIAF’s Board of Directors.
As a member of the Board of Directors you will be responsible for directing the affairs of SCIAF through efficient,effective and accountable governance, ensuring that the organisation is solvent, well run and most importantlythat its activities are in the interests of its beneficiaries – the people who need it most.
The term of office for the Committee Chair position is three years which is renewable, normally only on oneoccasion.
Both the Integral Human Development Committee and Board of Directors meet four times per year. There will also be anopportunity to visit SCIAF’s work overseas, at least once within each three-year period.

The position holder may travel overseas and will therefore come into contact with children and vulnerable adults.SCIAF undertakes to ensure that all staff, volunteers and relevant others, whose work might involve contact withchildren and vulnerable adults, will have completed additional recruitment procedures and in addition haveobtained a satisfactory PVG Check from Disclosure Scotland.

Cumbernauld and District Women’s Aid (CADWA) SCIO is a voluntary organisation based in Cumbernauld providing aconfidential service offering valuable information, support and temporary accommodation to women and theirchildren who have experienced domestic abuse in the Cumbernauld, Kilsyth, Stepps, Moodiesburn, Chryston, MountEllen and Gartcosh areas. CADWA also campaigns to raise awareness of domestic abuse and supports other domesticand sexual violence services throughout the area. Referrals mainly come from Social Work, educationalprofessionals and Housing in addition to self referrals.
As a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) Cumbernauld and District Women’s Aid is controlled by anindependent, voluntary Board of Directors drawn from the local community and is also accountable to fundersincluding Scottish Government.
Cumbernauld and District Women’s Aid is a member of Scottish Women’s Aid and works in partnership with other Women’sAid organisations throughout Great Britain to maintain an “open door” policy which allows women to accessRefuges in any part of the country if they feel the need to move out of their local area.

CADWA is looking for up to 4 committed women with a strong background in one or more of the following areas to jointhe Board as Trustees guiding the strategic direction of the organisation.
* Lived experience of domestic abuse or service user experience with Women’s Aid orsimilar organisations
* Being a charity trustee
* Local knowledge and connections as a resident inthe area CADWA serves.
We would also welcome applications from young women and from women who may not have Board experience but who arepassionate about creating a better future for those who have been affected by domestic abuse.
You do not need to be an expert on domestic abuse or other forms of violence against women, but you will need toprove that you are interested in our work, be reliable, action focussed and committed to our principles andvalues.
