We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Maintenance Workers at 422 Force Support Squadron, Royal Air Force Croughton, United Kingdom.
What will be your primary role?
The primary purpose of this position is to complete minor repairs and maintenance in upkeep of buildings, grounds and equipment for the organization. You will periodically inspect buildings, facilities and grounds to determine the need for repair work, reporting findings to the supervisor, and maintaining maintenance records on all facilities. You will perform minor plumbing repairs/tasks such as but not limited to, tightening of loose taps, clearing blocked shower drains, descaling shower heads, replacing worn faucets, and making minor furniture repairs. You will provide preventative maintenance on all appliances (washing machine, tumble dryers, stove/cookers, etc.) and report appliance faults to the Operations Manager. You will make minor electrical repairs by replacing fixtures, switches, sockets, stove burners, electrical cords, bulbs and fluorescent fixtures and inspect VCR's/DVD players, microwaves, TV's, replacing as needed. You will manage supply equipment through stock control, requisitioning, delivery and inventory control, establishing and maintaining minimum stock levels of all expendable supplies and amenities to assure adequate inventory of items to prevent work stoppage. You will perform pickup and delivery of supplies, amenities, and equipment, and determine quantities required and timely stock replenishment and rotation by use of experience judgment, historical data, occupancy and utilization. In addition, you will perform landscaping duties as required and assist with furniture shifting as directed. You will operate a motor vehicle up to 1-ton capacity transit panel van or estate wagon to perform duties as assigned and maintain vehicle interior/exterior cleanliness as well as checks fluid and tire pressures.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1. Experience in performing a variety of minor or routine maintenance. The experience may have been gained in similar or closely related work of the position; for example, experience in carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical etc.
2. Must have general background knowledge in facility maintenance.
3. Knowledge of safety practices.
4. Must be able to read, write and speak English and communicate effectively.
What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6. Your hours of work will be 35 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies
7. You must be able to satisfactory complete a pre-employment physical inclusive of Hep B immunization. You must be able to lift and carry objects weighting up to 50lbs, heavier items are moved with equipment or with the assistance of other workers. You must be able to actively walk, stand, push, bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.
8. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
9. You must be able to satisfactorily complete and maintain an appropriate security clearance.
10. You may be required to facilitate an on-call function over a 24-hour period covering 7 days a week as per the manning roster. On-call allowance is activated only during the period of time the employee is performing the function of the on-call responsibilities. On-call allowance is not payable during periods of leave, sick absence, or when employee is not rostered.
11. A valid Category B driving license is required.
