How you'll make a differenceAs a Care Leaver Engagement Worker, you will work with young people aged 16–25 as they move from care into independent adulthood. Your support will help them build confidence, develop life skills and access opportunities that enable them to thrive.You will play a key role in strengthening their independence, supporting stable housing, positive relationships and engagement in education, employment or training What you will be doingIt will be your responsibility to plan and deliver a range of community‑based group sessions, workshops and events for care leavers.To shape engagement activities and develop our Local Offer, you will liaise with young people to gather feedback.Working alongside personal advisors, you will provide targeted one‑to‑one support to help young people achieve agreed outcomes.You will support young people in gaining access to education, employment or training, as well as housing, health, wellbeing and wider community resources.Providing practical support, you will help care‑experienced parents and young people who may be at risk of homelessness or social isolation. What we need from youWe require you to hold an NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline or be working towards an appropriate qualification related to the provision of services to children and young people.It is essential that you have considerable relevant experience in the use of evidence-based practice and working with vulnerable and disadvantaged children, families or young people.You will have demonstrable experience of writing holistic, multi-agency assessments and plans with families.Given the nature of the role, you must have up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, processes and procedures.You must have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and engage successfully with colleagues, service users and partner organisations. What you need to knowThis is role is on a limited term contract ending 31st March 2027.You will be working 22.2 hours per week, Tuesday to Thursday.You may occasionally be required to work outside normal office hours to deliver planned sessions, workshops or events.You will be required to travel widely within the authority so you must either have a full, valid driving licence with access to a car or have an appropriate means of travel.Business insurance will need to be added to your insurance policy. Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post. Interviews will be held 30th April 2026.
