Main duties of the job
As a Pharmacy Counter Assistant, you will play a key role as a primary point of contact for patients, helping to arrange and coordinate deliveries of essential medicines. You will provide a responsive, patient-focused service, supporting individuals throughout their treatment journey.
The role also supports the safe and efficient running of the service through the use of pharmacy IT systems, accurate record keeping, and a range of administrative duties including prescription processing, filing, and incident reporting.

We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Job responsibilities
* Act as a primary point of contact for patients receiving Pharmacy Homecare services, providing a professional and patient-focused service.
* Contact patients to arrange and coordinate home delivery of injectable medicines and chemotherapy treatments.
* Liaise with hospital referral centres to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medicines.
* Use pharmacy IT systems (e.g. Guardian, Wellsky, Careflow, delivery platforms) to manage patient records and support service delivery.
* Process prescriptions in line with standard operating procedures and legal requirements.
* Undertake administrative duties including printing prescriptions, maintaining patient records, and managing filing systems.
* Ensure all patient information is handled in accordance with confidentiality and data protection standards.
* Accurately record and maintain patient and service data to support operational effectiveness and KPI delivery.
* Support incident reporting by documenting and escalating issues in line with safer care and governance procedures.
* Identify and escalate queries or concerns to the dispensary team or Pharmacist as appropriate.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with pharmacy standards.
* Work collaboratively as part of the wider pharmacy team to support the smooth running of the Homecare service.
* Participate in training and development to maintain competence and support service delivery.
Person Specification
Knowledge
* Knowledge of the Laws, Guidelines and Standards relating to the sale and supply of medicines from a GPhC registered Pharmacy
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills. Ability to explain clearly and listen to members of the public and other healthcare professionals
* Demonstrate an appropriate level of IT skills
* Demonstrate appropriate level of organisational skills
Experience
* Pharmacy Counter Assistant experience in Hospital Pharmacy or Community Pharmacy
Qualifications
* Have an MCA or HCA NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services
