Bedford Borough Council is expanding its SENDIAS service. Bedford Borough SENDIASS provide a free, impartial, and confidential service to young people, children, parents, and carers of children who have special educational needs (SEN) and or a disability, SEND.
Ensuring that families and any practitioners supporting them can access the correct information, advice and support is a crucial part of the SEND system.
We are looking for a SENDIASS Officer to provide advice and support within this expanding service.
The successful candidate will have knowledge around providing information, advice, and guidance, recognise the importance of technology and social media in getting messages out to families and be an enthusiastic advocate for the needs of children and young people with SEND.
Training on SEND law will be provided through access to Independent Provider of Special Education Advice, IPSEA, and through continued CPD.
Whilst the post will be recruited and employed by Bedford Borough Council, the SENDIASS service is an arm’s length service from the council and the role will report to the SENDIASS Team Leader.
This is an 18.5 hours per week, term time only post. Some off-site working will be required, and some opportunity may be available for hybrid working after training completed. Applications via CV.
