We're seeking an experienced Bid Manager to join our dynamic proposals team, working with prestigious clients including National Grid, DNOs, and major industrial infrastructure owners. This is your opportunity to influence the development of the UK's critical power infrastructure. Impact You'll Make Lead complex technical proposals for transmission solutions, focusing on protection and control systems. You'll shape our bidding strategy while working with industry-leading technology and prestigious clients across the energy sector. You'll make a difference by: Evaluating customer requirements and Invitation to Tender Packages to prepare robust technical scope of work documents and provide a detailed breakdown of the resource hours, materials (BoM), delivery programme and exclusions/caveats required to successfully deliver the requested works. Attend site surveys as part of the tendering process to help establish scope, programme and risks. Develop Topology diagrams. Being responsible for the; preparation, co-ordination and management of proposals from pre-qualification through to handover to the contract team (including all technical and commercial aspects, negotiation with customer and close - out activities). Proposal of payment milestones in reflection of project cash flow and project risks. Manage and prepare bids to meet business targets of, order intake, profitability, and growth. Develop working relationships with customers to obtain feedback on tender performance and understand market positioning and pricing whilst identifying new opportunities. Liaise and collaborate with the; business area management, sales, operations, and engineering teams to determine Bid / No Bid decisions based on strategy and resources. Prepare & present presentation package to Executive Management for bid approvals. Arrange and chair both tender reviews and handover meetings. Follow up on tender responses including support and leading post tender negotiations. Develop and understand Terms and Conditions, liaising with legal function as necessary to complete Tender documents. Streamline processes to ensure most efficient use of Tendering, Engineering and Operational resources. Seek best practise and introduce lessons learnt to continually improve our competitiveness, programme durations and profitability Mentor junior team members and share technical expertise within the team Build strong client relationships and identify new opportunities You're excited to build on your existing expertise, including: Experience in protection and control systems bidding Strong background in secondary engineering Understanding of National Grid requirements Knowledge of FAT, SAT, and commissioning processes Ability to interpret complex technical specifications Risk assessment and mitigation expertise Ability work cohesively with other teams including the; sales (pre-tendering activities), operations and procurement team, when bidding multiple contracts under customer frameworks Ideal Background Secondary engineering/bid management experience Protection and control systems expertise Knowledge of Siemens/Reyrolle protection devices (advantageous) Experience with transmission infrastructure projects Strong commercial awareness In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer: Performance-Based Bonus: Enjoy an annual bonus linked to the company's performance Flexible Working Hours: Achieve a healthy work-life balance with our flexible working arrangements, enabling you to tailor your schedule to your needs.
