The Role:
WBW have a fantastic opening for a motivated and experienced Private Client Lawyer to take the next step in their career by joining WBW’s busy Honiton branch. There would be a varied caseload of Private Client matters for an easy to work with clientele. Matters will include wills, probate, estate planning and powers of attorney.
Joining one of the largest Private Client departments in the South West, the successful candidate would be expected to deliver a high quality and efficient legal service on behalf of WBW Solicitors. While the Honiton branch naturally generates Private Client work through strong referrals and a well established reputation, there may also be a need to support the growth and development internally and externally.
The Candidate
The ideal applicant should produce a high-quality service, maintain excellent file administration and work successfully with other lawyers and support staff.
Experience in the independent management of private client matters including all aspects of Will drafting, estate administration and Power of Attorney production will be essential. However, the successful candidate will benefit from access to expert mentors and colleagues for ongoing support.
WBW is transitioning to working on e-files. Applicants should demonstrate a confident approach to working with legal technology and be proactive in engaging with developing practices.
For candidates aspiring to management and leadership roles, there will be opportunities to take on responsibilities within the team and help to develop and shape its future growth. This may include branch-level management and active engagement in the local community. Initiatives such as WBW’s successful Honiton Women in Business networking project offer scope for expansion and wider involvement.
The Honiton office is also committed to mentoring local trainee solicitors and aims to offer a Private Client training seat. As such, the successful candidate may be asked to contribute to the training and development of future legal professionals.
The candidate should be PQE 2 years or to have carried a full private client based caseload for a minimum of 2 years. A candidate who can demonstrate a knowledgeable understanding of how to manage various private client matters confidently, without qualification or fee earning experience, may also be considered. STEP membership welcomed but not essential.
The firm will require the applicant to have access to own transport for work use for the purposes of home visits and inter office travel on occasion.
