Offer description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

You need to have a live NMC or HCPC pin in order to be considered for this post.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert specialist clinical leadership, coordinate the daily operational flow of our theatres, and support safe, effective, and compassionate care for neurosurgical and OMFS patients undergoing surgery.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Perioperative Coordinator to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team within our Neurosurgical and OMFS operating theatres in the Queen Elisabeth University.

Key responsibilities:

As the Perioperative Coordinator, you will be responsible for the safe and effective coordination of theatre activities on a daily basis. You will lead and support a skilled perioperative team including nurses, operating department practitioners, assistant practitioners and theatre support staff. You will work closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless patient pathway. Your clinical expertise in neurosurgery and OMFS surgeries and theatre practices will be vital to maintaining high standards of care. You will be expected to ensure compliance with infection control, health and safety, and clinical governance standards, while also contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

To be considered for this role, you must be a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with current NMC or HCPC registration. You should have significant post-registration experience within the perioperative environment within Neurosurgical and/or OMFS services. Proven leadership and coordination skills at Band 7 level are essential. The role demands excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, as well as a strong passion for delivering safe, person-centres care and driving high standards.

In return, we offer the opportunity to work within a supportive nursing team. We provide access to professional development opportunities and leadership training, as well as the chance to contribute to service innovation within our services.

What we offer:

We offer a wide range of supportive policies designed to enhance your employee journey, including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary scheme and extensive learning and development opportunities.

As an NHS Scotland employee, you will be entitled to:

* Salary Sacrifice Car Benefit Scheme
* Development opportunities including study bursaries, e-learning and classroom-based courses

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application, but your answers must be your own.

* Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
* Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
* Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you, not an AI tool.
