Position Summary
We are on the lookout for an experienced Residential Services Director to guide our residential services into an exciting future! In this senior role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for all residential and shared living services. Your focus will be on ensuring service excellence, regulatory compliance, and person-centered outcomes for the individuals we support. You will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and integration under Maine's Lifespan Waiver system, helping to shape the future of disability services in our state.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
* Lead the integration of residential and shared living services into a unified, lifespan-focused model.
* Translate the Lifespan Waiver vision into actionable plans, procedures, and staffing.
* Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team for long-range planning and sustainability.
Program Oversight
* Supervise and support managers across residential, shared living, and compliance areas.
* Ensure operational consistency, fiscal responsibility, and high-quality service delivery.
* Monitor program metrics to drive continuous improvement and participant satisfaction.
Compliance & Quality
* Maintain full compliance with state and federal regulations (HCBS Settings Rule, DHHS licensing).
* Oversee incident management, licensing, and quality assurance systems.
* Lead agency readiness for audits, licensing inspections, and data submissions.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as a liaison with DHHS, OADS, and families for smooth service transitions.
* Represent LEAP at statewide meetings, workgroups, and policy forums.
* Engage with peers across the provider community to share best practices and shape system evolution.
Team Development
* Build and mentor a high-performing, collaborative management team.
* Provide leadership development opportunities to managers and supervisors.
* Foster a culture of psychological safety, accountability, and innovation.
Required Education & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Special Education, Psychology, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
* Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership in disability services, with at least 3 years managing multiple programs or sites.
* Experience with Maine's HCBS waivers (Section 21, 29, or Lifespan preferred).
Skills & Competencies
* Deep understanding of person-centered planning, HCBS principles, and service system reform.
* Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, develop managers, and manage change.
* Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Comfort with data tracking systems, incident management, and quality assurance.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
This position involves both office work and frequent visits to residential settings. Candidates must be able to:
* Lift/move up to 50 lbs. and assist with client repositioning and transfers as needed.
* Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb stairs frequently.
* Operate a vehicle independently to travel between sites.
* Respond quickly in emergencies, including potential physical interventions.
