We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SENCo Assistant to support children with special needs, including those with autism and disabilities. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive learning environment and providing personalised support to help children thrive. This paid position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in special education and child development within a supportive team setting.
Duties
* Assist children with autism and other disabilities in their daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being
* Support young children during play, learning, and care routines
* Implement individualised programmes designed by educators or therapists, including behavioural and communication strategies
* Facilitate communication using appropriate methods tailored to each child's needs
* Assist with teaching basic skills such as social interaction, communication, and self-care
* Support behavioural management strategies and promote positive behaviour
* Collaborate with SENCo, teachers, therapists, and families to monitor progress and adapt support strategies accordingly
* Maintain a clean, organised, and stimulating environment conducive to learning and development
Requirements
* Experience working with children, particularly those with autism or special educational needs
* Knowledge of working with people with disabilities is desirable
* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, and team members
* Compassionate attitude with patience and understanding of individual needs
* Ability to work well within a team environment and follow guidance from educators or specialists
* Relevant training or qualifications in special education or related fields are advantageous - please note we are looking for an Experienced SENCo or Assistant SENCo, we will not be accepting SEN TA's.
