Trial Manager

Band 6 – Fixed term, 12 months. Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum. Contract: Full‑time.
Job Summary
Join a large, experienced, and dynamic research management team at the Leicester Diabetes Centre. Support the set‑up, management and delivery of research studies and clinical trials in diabetes and other long‑term health conditions.
Responsibilities
* Ensure timely set‑up of studies, including protocol input, IRAS forms, patient and GP documentation, case report forms and remote data entry systems.
* Conduct site initiation visits (remote or in‑person) and oversee feasibility of sites.
* Facilitate approvals for sites to open to recruitment and monitor progress, taking appropriate action.
* Maintain trial master files, financial paperwork and audit trails.
* Develop and implement recruitment plans, including community events and leaflet drops.
* Prepare and report study progress, finance, protocol deviations and adverse events.
* Facilitate trial committee meetings and provide timely updates to project stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain working relationships across the department and train staff on study procedures.
* Motivate, develop and support staff that the post holder line‑manages.
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent qualification in a science, health, or related discipline.
* Leadership qualification at certificate level or equivalent experience.
* Higher degree (e.g., MSc) in clinical trials or a health‑related discipline – desirable.
* Project Management Qualification – desirable.
Experience
* Minimum two years of experience running or delivering clinical research studies/trials.
* Experience working in a large complex multi‑professional organisation.
* Supervisory or management experience.
* Knowledge of research governance, ICH‑GCP, and HRA/MHRA application processes.
* Experience creating research ethics applications (including substantial amendments) and facilitating communication.
* Experience managing a budget, data quality management, NHS or higher education institution experience – desirable.
