Overview

This is a Mott MacDonald Bentley role, employed by Mott MacDonald. Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint venture between JN Bentley and Mott MacDonald. The role will involve working across the joint venture, with colleagues from both Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley.

Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services, combining contracting expertise with design specialisms. The role is primarily in the UK water market, contributing to feasibility, design, construction and commissioning to keep water flowing and wastewater treated. You will contribute to projects that benefit communities and the environment, from securing water supplies for future generations to protecting homes and businesses from flood risk.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping electrical functions throughout project lifecycles, from concept design to commissioning, ensuring electrical aspects are integrated and meet current standards.


Responsibilities

* Prepare and review designs for schemes to ensure fitness for purpose and compliance with current legislation and standards. Work with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution, Cabling, Instrumentation, Industrial Networks, PLCs and SCADA. Projects may involve new technology and legacy installations.
* Produce and review technical specifications and procurement schedules; review supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
* Understand, apply and contribute to design standards and Client/industry standards.
* Challenge Client specifications where appropriate and present/defend solutions to complex problems.
* Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions and digital tools.
* Act as technical checker on project documents and undertake technical reviews across teams.
* Manage interfaces and integration of the electrical design with other disciplines; produce associated documentation.
* Collaborate with other engineers, specialists, clients and project teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
* Work with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions through design, construction and beyond.
* Supervise and mentor graduates and engineers to develop knowledge and skills.
* Engage with the client to manage relationships and support a one-team approach.
* Undertake site reviews to ensure buildability and integration with existing systems.


What you can offer

* Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
* Chartered or incorporated membership of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
* Experience with water or wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
* Experience delivering high-quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
* Ability to deliver results within short timeframes, prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.
* A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
