The Role

Armadale SHS is seeking an experienced and innovative school leader to fill the position of Program Coordinator – Manager of Intensive Support. Over the past 4 years Armadale SHS has been on a significant journey of improvement focused on our core priorities of Teaching and Learning, Conditions for Learning, and Leadership. We are recognised for creating a school environment that provides high levels of care, well-being, positive social-emotional support and academic outcomes. This role supports the school’s Executive Team in the coordination of responses to complex student behaviour.

The Manager of Intensive Support will be responsible for the provision of multi-tiered complex behavioural case management across the school. They will work with the school’s Executive to provide strategic direction to fellow leaders and staff on the development of systems that cater to students with complex behavioural needs. This position will emerge as a key leadership role in the school and as such will require the successful applicant to have a proven capacity to form positive and productive relationships with students, staff, families and external stakeholders. The Manager of Intensive Support will be part of the schools Senior Leadership Team. They will work with this team, all staff, students and their families to ensure complex behavioural case management is effective, in place, and known across the school.

A key role of Manager of Intensive Support at Armadale SHS is to identify and reduce the impact of barriers on a student’s ability to engage in meaningful education. They achieve this through working collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that students are supported in their learning through a tiered model of service delivery. The successful applicant should have a comprehensive understanding of, and proven experience referring to, and working with inter-departmental and external agencies to achieve best outcomes for students.

The role requires an individual with a strong case management approach, exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, keep accurate records and analyse data to inform interventions and future practices. They should be resourceful, efficient and display sound decision making. The successful applicant will support the identification of students at educational risk (SAER) and use their professional knowledge to inform intervention strategies. The effective and timely identification, monitoring, analysis, and application of data are required for this role.

An important element of this role will be the building of capacity in others to support complex cases at both a whole school and individual classroom level. This will require an instructional leader that is able to role model, mentor and coach relevant staff at various levels to enact appropriate interventions for students at risk. Ability to build rapport and trusting relationships with parents and students is an essential component of this position. An understanding of Trauma Informed Practice is vital, and while not required an understanding of the Berry Street Model is desirable. While the position is advertised as permanent full time the school would consider suitable applicants seeking part time positions.
