Overview

You will be part of the Dietetics Team within the Hounslow Community Diabetes Service (HCDS) delivering the award-winning structured education programme X-PERT to adults referred with type 2 diabetes in the London Borough of Hounslow. This will include teaching in group sessions, face-to-face sessions and via virtual platforms.

Hounslow has a diverse population, and you will also support delivering the structured group education programmes in the South Asian dialects (Hindi, Urdu or Punjabi) using your own language skills or interpreter services.


Role and hours

The part-time Band 4 Diabetes Educator Facilitator post would be suitable for an individual with an interest in health and wellbeing/nutrition. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teaching skills, excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational capabilities and the ability to use their own initiative. The post holder will work 18 hours per week to suit service needs. Some evenings and weekend shifts may be required.


Responsibilities

* Assist in the delivery of X-PERT to patients in group settings, including travel to venues across the borough of Hounslow.
* Support delivery of training and education to other healthcare professionals and at public engagement events.
* Provide administrative support for the HCDS team to meet service needs.
* Contribute to delivering structured education programmes in South Asian dialects as needed, using language skills or interpreter services.


Qualifications and skills

* Interest in health and wellbeing/nutrition.
* Strong teaching skills and excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational abilities.
* Ability to work with initiative and adapt to service needs.
