The Role:
1. Reporting to the director on financial and technical controls for civil engineering projects.
2. Help manage financial, technical, and resourcing concerns for larger projects.
3. Deliver projects within budget restrictions while keeping colleagues and line managers informed of progress.
4. Delegate tasks to junior engineers and technicians working in projects.
5. Mentoring colleagues to improve their technical knowledge and understanding.
6. Responsible for certain technological concerns.
7. Because the work is client-facing, the ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively and represent the organisation with professionalism.
8. Check that others' calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports follow operating processes.
9. Conduct site visits to track construction progress against specifications and report any concerns to the contractor or client.
10. Produce Flood Risk Assessment reports, Drainage Strategy reports, Bulk Earthworks reports, Site Viability assessments etc.
Requirements:
1. A MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering.
2. Demonstrable experience in Civil Engineering within a consultancy environment.
3. Excellent communication and numerical skills.
4. Ability to build excellent relationships with clients and colleagues.
5. Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure.
6. Experience of working with housing developers is advantageous.
7. Experience with civil engineering software, which may include AutoCAD, Civil D, Site D, MicroDrainage.
8. Knowledge of the design and detail of highway and drainage infrastructure and other civil engineering requirements on residential, commercial and industrial developments.
9. Working knowledge of Highway Authority Sections,, and and Water Authority sections, and agreements.
