We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Cloud Automation Project Manager to join our Cloud Automation team. Senior Project Manager - the role, purpose and mission
As a Technical Cloud Automation Project Manager, you will be responsible for the full project lifecycle — from pre-sales engagement and solution shaping, through design and development, to implementation and post-delivery support.
You will lead global cloud automation and integration initiatives, combining consulting expertise with strong technical understanding of software development and cloud platforms. Your mission is to ensure customer requirements are translated into robust, well-architected automation solutions that integrate VMware and third-party technologies, enabling enterprise-scale private and hybrid cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Leadership: Lead the execution of cloud automation and integration projects, ensuring successful delivery on time and within budget
* Pre-Sales & Solution Shaping: Participate in pre-sales activities, helping define scope, estimates, delivery models and resource plans
* End-to-End Lifecycle Management: Oversee all phases of delivery — requirements gathering, design, development, QA, implementation, and post-go-live support.
* Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with customers, architects, developers, DevOps engineers, QA teams and senior leadership
* Planning & Governance: Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, dependencies, critical paths, budgets and forecasts
* Risk & Issue Management: Identify delivery risks early, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and implement mitigation strategies
* Technical Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to define software delivery estimates and ensure adherence to development best practices
* Process Adherence: Ensure compliance with internal delivery and engineering processes across the full development lifecycle
* Resource Management: Secure and allocate resources aligned to project requirements.
* Mentorship & Team Enablement: Support onboarding of new team members and mentor junior colleagues on delivery processes and best practices
* Reusable Services Development: Contribute to the creation of standardised, reusable consulting and automation offerings
* Knowledge Sharing: Document best practices and lessons learned, feeding them back into the internal knowledge base for reuse
* Executive Communication: Present solutions and articulate business value clearly to stakeholders at all levels, from technical teams to executive leadership
Key Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate combines strong project management expertise with hands-on understanding of software development and cloud technologies.
Candidates should demonstrate experience in:
* Proven success delivering projects in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
* 3+ years' experience as a Project Manager, Program Manager, Professional Services Manager, or Consultant within cloud, software product development, or consulting environments
* Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and modern engineering practices
* Experience managing integrations and automation projects within cloud or virtualised environments
* Familiarity with systems management concepts including capacity and performance management, storage, and networking
* Experience with collaboration and delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence
* Analytical, structured and solution-oriented mindset
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with business-level English
* Ability to work independently with a proactive, goal-oriented approach
Preferred Qualification (highly valued):
* Background in software development (Java, C++, C#, TypeScript or similar OOP languages)
* Certifications such as PMP, CSM or PMI-ACP
* Experience working in enterprise cloud, private cloud, or large-scale virtualised data centre environments
