We are seeking two Lead Officers (Childcare Services) to work within the Childcare Services Team, who are concerned with the delivery of School Aged Childcare across Fife.
You will lead, manage, support and coach a group of Childcare Managers and their teams, who deliver out of school clubs and our funded breakfast services across Fife.
You will take the lead on specific key strategic or operational aspects of the service, which may involve leading working groups or representing the service at team, directorate or at a Council wide level.
You will work directly with the Service Manager, and in partnership with two new School Aged Childcare Development Officers, our Business Development Officer and Training Officer to deliver effective services to the people of Fife.
You will be expected to work flexibly due to the opening hours of breakfast clubs and out of school clubs and must be able to travel throughout Fife to conduct visits as part of the quality assurance processes or to meet with individual staff teams, other professionals, children and families.
The Person
As an FC8 Lead Officer (Childcare Services), you will be involved supporting a range of services, projects, and work across the service.
We are therefore looking for someone who:
1. Is educated to SCQF Level 9 which includes a Degree or equivalent such as BA Childhood Practice, or PDA Level 9 Childhood Practice which would enable registration with the SSSC as a Manager.
2. As the position involves managing out of school clubs, including those for children with complex and profound additional support needs, you must have experience within these areas.
3. Our services are regulated by the Care Inspectorate, so you will need to have good sector knowledge, particularly around legislation, national guidance, and best practice as well as the inspection process.
4. We currently have over 200 people working within our teams, so you must have experience in the effective deployment of people, management of policies, practices and procedures.
5. You must have experience of leading successful projects including the development of clear improvement goals as part of medium and long-term strategies.
6. You must have good customer service skills as this role involves working with a wide range of internal and external customers.
7. You will have to write reports on various topics and for different audiences so you should have clear skills in this area.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
