Role Responsibility KCC Public Health Specialist – supporting school aged children We are looking to appoint a Public Health Specialist to join our thriving public health team in Kent County Council. Kent is a large county with lots of complex public health issues. You will have the ability to prioritise competing demands and objectives, coupled with diplomacy and a working knowledge of all areas of public health. You will need to be an experienced and skilled public health professional with a strong public health knowledge base and awareness of current relevant guidelines and forthcoming legislation. You will have a keen interest and enthusiasm for improving the health of the school aged population, a proven history in delivering public health projects and programmes, demonstrable partnership working, and the ability to embed strategy, policy and guidance to a high standard. You will have experience of implementing national guidance or policy into practice. You will be skilled in the use and analysis of data to inform policy and programmes. The role will allow you to showcase your technical expertise in assessing need, reviewing literature and implementing evidence-based solutions to bring about change. This role will be supported, and line managed by a Consultant in Public Health and be part of a friendly, dynamic and supportive team which promotes professional development. This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service. Candidates registered as Public Health practitioners on the UKPHR Register or equivalent preferred. All posts are considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
