Are you an inspiring MFL Teacher ready to take the next step in your career? We're looking for a Head of Department for Spanish & French at a vibrant secondary school in the Colchester area.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to lead a motivated and committed MFL team, shaping the language provision and helping students thrive in Spanish and French across KS3 and KS4. You'll take charge of curriculum planning, staff development, and raising standards - while teaching your specialist subject in an environment that values language learning and cultural exploration.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the MFL department (Spanish & French) across KS3 and KS4
Drive curriculum planning, assessment strategies, and high-quality teaching
Support, develop and inspire colleagues within the department
Teach Spanish and/or French to a high standard
Promote a love of languages and encourage uptake at GCSE
Monitor and track progress to ensure strong student outcomes
Contribute to whole-school development and leadership initiatives
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Degree in Spanish, French, or related discipline
Experience teaching both languages at KS3 and KS4
Previous leadership or responsibility experience desirable
Excellent communication, mentoring, and organisational skills
Passionate about MFL and committed to developing young linguists
