About this Role
Required for January 2026
We are excited to be able to offer an opportunity for an inspiring teacher of Spanish to join a team of dedicated, reflective practitioners in the MFL curriculum area. We are proud to say that our recent OFSTED inspection in 2025 cited that the school remains a 'Good' school, identifying how the school is an 'inclusive school' where "Pupils achieve highly, as reflected in published outcomes" and "Pupils are happy and feel safe in school. They behave well in lessons and around the school site." We value our staff highly and have established a truly supportive environment where staff training and wellbeing is at the heart of all we do.
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and highly effective linguist, with Spanish as their main language, to support the Curriculum Area by developing pedagogy and fostering a love of languages across the school. Applications from ECTs are also welcomed.
Modern Foreign Languages are a valued and popular part of our curriculum. Both French and Spanish are taught throughout the 11 - 16 age range and at all levels and ability. We are proud that Pittville School continues to buck the national trend with an increasingly high proportion of students opting to pursue their study of languages to Key Stage 4, and beyond. KS3 has a varied and engaging curriculum which gives both breadth and depth opportunities. At KS4, we follow the AQA specification.
We offer a collaborative department with experienced teachers keen to bring authenticity to the learning environment. The successful candidate will be a team player, who will instill a passion for MFL through high quality learning and teaching and have proven success in teaching and learning at Key Stages 3 and 4. Ideally, candidates will be proficient in both Spanish and French - but Spanish is a priority. The school offers a bespoke CPD programme, research and development, links and networks with outstanding schools as well as a plethora of extra-curricular and cross-curricular working opportunities. The successful candidate will be working with a supportive team of staff (there are currently 4 staff in the department) and there will be opportunities to extend your own professional development.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received until the role is filled. Interviews will be confirmed post application.
Pittville School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers, social media checks and the Disclosure and Barring Service. All offers of appointment are subject to satisfactory references and DBS clearance. It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity with children.
