Band 5 Staff Nurse – East Kent Community Rehabilitation Service, Rivendell
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Staff Nurse within the East Kent Community Rehabilitation Service, at Rivendell. This role is for a Band 5 position.
Rivendell is situated in the village of Eastry near Sandwich and is one of six Rehabilitation Units across Kent. The unit comprises eight single bedrooms and is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It provides specialist inpatient rehabilitation for individuals with complex mental health needs.
The multidisciplinary team provides a wide range of individualised interventions delivered by nursing, medical, psychological, occupational therapy and peer support clinicians.
As a Staff Nurse you will be the named nurse for a small caseload of clients and be expected to coordinate a recovery‑focused, individualised plan of care, supporting service users throughout the rehabilitation pathway.
* Work across a 24‑hour shift pattern, 7 days a week.
* Manage the shift when on duty and coordinate the workload for junior staff; delegate appropriately.
* Have a good understanding of the Mental Health Act, safeguarding frameworks and clinical documentation.
* Administer and dispense medication (medication management).
* Champion recovery‑oriented practice, including group work and facilitating the therapeutic intervention programme.
* Follow health and safety protocols and policies.
* Implement risk management and ensure patient safety.
* Deliver effective and quality care alongside patients.
* Keep up to date with mandatory and CPD requirements (Trust Policy/NMC revalidation).
* Demonstrate good mental health assessment and intervention skills.
* Receive and deliver strong supervision, training and regular appraisal to named staff.
* Work as part of the MDT on the unit.
* Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Have a good knowledge of physical health monitoring and documentation.
