JOB TITLE: Chargehand – Civils & Multi-Utilities

Role Overview:
TEXO Recruitment are currently seeking experienced and motivated Chargehands on behalf of one of our external clients, a well-established civils and construction company.
The successful candidate will oversee and lead a small team of operatives on civil engineering and multi-utility projects accross the North of Scotland. Acting as the key link between site operatives and site management, the Chargehand will ensure all work is delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and coordinate site activities for a small team of operatives.
* Ensure works are completed in line with the Bill of Quantities, project specifications, drawings, and health & safety requirements.
* Monitor contract programme progress and provide regular updates to the Line Manager.
* Assist in the preparation and issue of Job Instructions and ensure all risk assessments and briefings are completed correctly.
* Produce and deliver key job information and accurate daily records of works, labour, and plant usage.
* Organise daily work schedules, allocate tasks, and ensure safe use of plant, tools, and equipment.
* Liaise with the Site Supervisor/Manager on progress, resource requirements, and site issues.
* Maintain good housekeeping on site, in the yard, and within company vehicles.
* Monitor workmanship quality and adherence to company and client standards.
* Support the Commercial Team and Site Manager with measurements during site visits.
* Promote and enforce a positive health, safety, and environmental culture.
* Provide guidance, training, and mentoring for less experienced operatives.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as a Chargehand within the civil engineering industry.
* Demonstrated track record in successfully delivering civil engineering and multi-utility projects.
* Valid CSCS Card (Essential).
* SSSTS / SMSTS (Desirable).
* Street Works qualification (Desirable).
* CPCS Dumper and Roller (Desirable).
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Full UK driving licence.
