About the role.
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for overall leadership to mechanics, project engineers and managers in determining and carrying out the best maintenance practices for equipment reliability and total cost of ownership. The Reliability Engineer works independently or as team members to assess, design, train and implement preventive maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM) and reliability continuous improvement programs. The Reliability Engineer should have diverse experience in organizational management, maintenance and reliability, as well as practical experience in plant reliability and/or maintenance management.
This person should have exceptional skills and knowledge in particular areas such as work flow management, PM optimization, maintenance technology and/or reliability continuous improvement through FMEA, RCA, RCM, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, and other statistical methods. The Reliability Engineer should have expertise in process measurement as it relates to assessing current performance, trending and documenting improvement results.
Key Responsibilities.
• Communicate to inform, engage and inspire. Emphasizes communications as a tool to build collaboration and ensure organizational alignment.
• Lead the BE break down elimination process to ensure root cause and corrective actions to prevent future failures.
• Ensures failure modes addressed are appropriate.
• Performs cost/benefit analysis to set correct frequency of task(s).
• Ensures that all failure modes have a job plan on file (both proactive and reactive).
• Responsible for changes to the Equipment Maintenance Plan based on analysis of asset failure data.
• Assists Maintenance Manager and Plant Engineer with reliability analysis of proposed equipment modifications.
• Make specific recommendations to improve machinery performance and reliability based on analysis of process and failure data.
• Responsible to perform statistical analysis on machinery failure data and work order data to determine whether adjustments to the Engineered Maintenance Strategy are warranted.
• Catalogues and databases the RCA/RCFA results and subsequent action items.
• Analyzes plant wide failure data and downtime scenarios to calculate relevant trigger points for RCFA.
• Applies reliability analysis methods to new designs to determine system, asset and component reliability.
• Determines single-point failures.
• Develops commissioning procedures for new system, asset and component design.
• Develop machinery modification plans to deal with single-point failure scenarios.
• Develops specific maintenance and operational start-up procedures for new installations.
• Responsible for developing new equipment purchase specifications for reliability and maintainability.
• Uses reliability analysis tools to determine operational reliability of systems, assets and components.
• Aides in the development of alarms designed to determine and verify acceptable operations.
• Understand and utilize the continuum of maintenance philosophy as it relates to change management.
• Work with the maintenance team and process to ensure quality preventive programs; vibration, oil analysis, ultra sound - on line real time data from the equipment and CI inspections.
• Assist in capital project management.
What we're looking for.
• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in engineering or a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience, and continuing self-development.
• Competent Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office).
• Must be fluent in English; second language is a plus but not required.
• Strong technical expertise and problem solving skills.
• Strong analytical skills (e.g. root cause analysis and statistic analysis).
• Displays vision and demonstrates both personal and organizational sensitivity.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports.
• Can communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written work.
• Must be willing to work alternative shift schedules when applicable for assignments.
• Must be willing to relocate within the United States for assignments and future growth.
