We’re on a mission to make money work for everyone.
We’re waving goodbye to the complicated and confusing ways of traditional banking.
With our hot coral cards and get-paid-early feature, combined with financial education on social media and our award winning customer service, we have a long history of creating magical moments for our customers!
We’re not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo.
We're looking for a highly proactive, enthusiastic and driven Treasury Ops Lead to work within our Financial control team, helping us to build a world-class finance function. This role would be well suited to someone experienced in leading Treasury back office teams within a banking environment.
We have some really exciting challenges coming up like systems implementation, expanding into the European Union, continuing to grow our customer base, keep growing our lending business and adding to our marketplace. This all leads to exciting Treasury activity aimed at supporting this growth and managing risk. You’ll work on scaling Monzo in a controlled way, while helping us optimise our financial control processes with the help of technology. You’ll join the Finance team and report to our overall squad lead of the Treasury Operations and Product Control teams.
* Leading our Treasury Operations team on a daily basis.
* Working closely with Treasury Product Control and Treasury front office teams as we continue to maintain and build out our Treasury function.
* Establishing best practice processes and controls for Treasury operations, which are scalable in line with our growth plans.
* Taking the lead in developing new and maintaining existing internal controls that protect our financial data, enhance robustness of treasury settlement processes and make for a clean balance sheet substantiation process for Treasury accounts and from a back office perspective.
* Working closely with 2LoD and 3LoD on enhancing and driving visible improvements within the internal control landscape.
* Overseeing and assuming responsibility for the successful completion of daily transaction processes for all Treasury products, from a back office perspective, including new deal confirmations and settlements.
* Ensuring all Treasury transactions are validated and processed, including confirmations, payments, receipts, and foreign exchange deals.
* Overseeing the trade lifecycle management for all treasury transactions, following-up on any unsettled trades directly with our custodians and counterparties, ensuring settlements complete as contractually agreed.
* Managing all daily margin call confirmations and cash settlements across swaps, REPO and FX derivatives, as per our legal agreements with our counterparties.
* Maintaining and updating all static data within the TMS both efficiently and accurately, by verifying inputs into the system.
* Generating regular and ad-hoc reports on cash forecasting positions, transaction volumes, and other relevant metrics, including bank account reconciliations to key stakeholders.
* Supporting our year end process by working with external auditors and our Financial Reporting squad.
* Reviewing new Treasury products, assessing and documenting the impact from a back office settlement process, achieving optimal outcomes.
* Preparing monthly management and ad-hoc reports, offering meaningful analysis of movements.
* Resolving miscellaneous inquiries and supporting the overall Finance team wherever needed - from forecasting and valuations, to bank transfers and new system implementations.
* Working with our engineers and data teams to automate the production elements of this role, allowing you to focus on the parts of the role where your knowledge and skills provide the most value.
* Learning SQL skills to run reports and propose solutions that make our processes efficient and scalable.
* You have experience in leading treasury back office teams (preferably in a banking environment).
* You have a track record in motivating and developing people.
* You’re fascinated by the banking and regulatory landscape, and have a good understanding of key internal financial controls.
* You’re a self-starter and enjoy tackling what needs doing, whether it’s making a bank transfer or pulling together reports for investors.
* You’re comfortable translating complex information into simple words for people with diverse backgrounds.
* You’re interested in using data (SQL skills would be a bonus).
* You thrive in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment.
* What we’re doing at Monzo excites you!
Not ticking every box? That’s totally okay! Studies show that women and people of colour might hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement. At Monzo, we’re dedicated to creating a diverse and welcoming team. If you’re passionate about this role and keen to learn and grow with us, we encourage you to apply— even if you don’t have everything that's listed just yet.
