This role is ideal for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child's educational journey.
You will be working closely with a pupil who requires additional support due to a specific learning difficulty, developmental delay, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) need. This is a vital role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, and thrive in a mainstream or specialist environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with SEN, ensuring their learning is tailored to their individual needs.
- Assist with lesson delivery and help the pupil stay engaged and focused.
- Support the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and independence.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement and review individual support plans.
- Encourage positive behaviour and manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people in a school, care, or youth setting.
- Understanding of SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
- Ability to build strong relationships with children and support their learning and emotional well-being.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
What Five Education Offers You
- Transparent PAYE payroll - no umbrella or admin fees.
- Free, specialised training in areas such as Team Teach, Autism Awareness, and Trauma-Informed Practice.
- Ongoing support and mentoring from our experienced consultants.
- Free Enhanced DBS (refunded after 20 days of work).
