Pharmacy Technician in Primary Care GP Practice - ABUHB PCCA
ABUHB Primary and Community are offering an exciting opportunity for passionate, motivated, forward-thinking Pharmacy Technicians interested in developing a career within Primary Care GP practices.
This role offers Pharmacy Technicians transitioning from other sectors the opportunity to complete a transition programme supported by an in-house Pharmacist, ensuring competence and confidence in line with the National Primary Care Pharmacy Technician Framework.
Training is supported by an in-house programme plus the GP Pharmacy Technician Medicines Optimisation Programme delivered by Pharmacy Workforce Development South (PWDS).
Our posts allow Pharmacy Technicians to develop a substantive portfolio of experience, preparing them for ongoing career opportunities within GP practices. Peer support is provided through our wider Primary Care Pharmacy network.

This is a fixed-term/secondment role for 14 months due to a training programme. Applicants seeking secondment must obtain permission from their current line manager prior to applying.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to safe and effective medicines management within Primary Care GP practices.
* Work effectively as a core team member with other health and social care professionals.
* Improve medicines management quality and effectiveness.
* Provide patient-focused, prudent healthcare.
* Undertake medicines reconciliation to improve prescription efficiency.
* Respond to patient questions and refer issues to pharmacists.
* Participate in patient reviews, record updates, and medication audits.
* Support prescribing safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness through advice and information.
* Assist in monitoring prescribing budgets and developing evidence-based resources.
* Promote medicines safety.
* Supervise and train less experienced staff and students.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
