Job Description:
My client is looking to recruit a Site Operations & Warehouse Manager who will manage all elements of the warehousing and domestic transport operation within a busy Airfreight and distribution centre. This will include the overall management of the site and its facilities, ensuring that all logistics solutions are fully integrated, cost-efficient, and aimed at improving customer service.

THE ROLE
* Transport administration, planning, and management of 3rd party carriers & internal drivers, inbound and outbound warehouse planning and processing.
* Efficient stock management and control of goods through the warehouse, along with managing staff and resources effectively.
* Overall control of housekeeping and maintaining a safe working environment.
* Delivering through continuous improvement initiatives in line with a Kaizen environment.
* Liaising with internal and external customers to meet high-quality standards, including standards accreditation, customer KPIs, and SLA requirements, while defining and monitoring operational KPIs to drive service excellence and cost control.
* Ensuring health, safety, and welfare regulations are followed.
* Handling H&S and maintenance issues within the building.
* Managing quality and environmental standards for the site.
* Dealing with external contractors related to building/site issues and landlord interactions.
* Assuming responsibility as the Security Responsible Person for the role.
DUTIES
* Planning resources and staff efficiently to achieve daily operational targets and maintain performance.
* Managing operational supervisors to ensure timely and professional completion of activities such as unloading, put away, picking & packing, and loading.
* Creating and maintaining risk assessments and safe systems of work (SSOW) for all areas of responsibility.
* Monitoring and managing operational costs.
* Maintaining accurate records according to procedures and regulations.
* Liaising with external contractors for maintenance and repair of operational machinery, including security-related equipment.
* Controlling and replenishing materials necessary for warehouse operations.
* Maintaining effective communication between team members, management, customers, and suppliers.
* Managing domestic transport activities with the Transport Manager and 3PL partners to ensure service and profitability.
* Encouraging staff involvement in continuous improvement and housekeeping initiatives to foster a positive Kaizen environment.
* Handling staff disciplinary procedures in collaboration with HR and other managers.
* Monitoring staff performance, attendance, and holidays to ensure improvements.
* Maintaining staff records, training logs, and supplier details.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 3 years’ managerial experience in a warehouse and transport environment.
• Experience working within an airfreight environment.
• Strong management skills with the ability to lead and motivate teams.
• Flexible approach and reliable to deliver consistent results.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure.
• AVSEC and H&S representative experience.
• Experience working within budgetary guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills.
• O Licence holder preferred, but training can be provided.
