Plumber / Mechanical Fitter – Estates Department, Langdon Hospital, Dawlish

Location: Langdon Hospital, Dawlish, Devon, EX7 0NR. Work in a range of healthcare premises, both new and existing buildings. Work independently with occasional collaboration with other trades. A full UK driving licence is essential.


Key Responsibilities

* Plan, organise and prioritise own workflow within agreed parameters with the Maintenance Supervisor.
* Problem‑solve, diagnose faults and find solutions.
* Install, repair and maintain physical assets.
* Maintain and repair Trust property and equipment.
* Work largely independently, with minimal supervision.
* Demonstrate competence in all aspects of plumbing and mechanical works.
* Plan and prioritise workload with the Maintenance Supervisor to support service needs.
* Comply with safe systems of work and Health & Safety regulations.
* Establish and maintain good relationships and effective team working with colleagues.
* Undertake surveys or audits, support acceptance and testing of new equipment.


Qualifications & Requirements

* Full UK driving licence (essential).
* Demonstrated competence in plumbing and mechanical works.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and proactive approach to maintenance.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Carpenter / Building Operative – Estates Department, Langdon Hospital, Dawlish

* Ability to work independently, show initiative and manage diary.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and proactive approach.
* Good communication skills.
* Full UK driving licence (essential).

Social Worker – Community Health and Social Care (Secondment, 12 months)

Location: Ivybridge and Kingsbridge area. Support individuals who have experienced stroke, their families and carers within a multidisciplinary team. The role is a 12‑month internal secondment opportunity.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide personalised, holistic and empowering support to individuals and their families.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues.
* Use experience of Care Act assessments, Mental Capacity assessments and Safeguarding.
* Maintain professional communication and challenge skills.
* Deliver support in hospital and community settings.


Qualifications & Requirements

* Experience of completing Care Act assessments, Mental Capacity assessments and Safeguarding.
* Strong communication and challenging abilities.
* Fluency in English.
* No visa sponsorship; UK Right to Work is required.
* Social Work England Registration (SWE) REQ009559 required.


Specialist Community Public Health (SCPHN) Programme – Health Visiting & School Nursing (12‑month fixed term)

Recruitment of registered nurses or midwives for a 52‑week programme commencing September 2026. The course leads to a specialist public health nursing qualification.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide health‑visiting and school‑nursing services within the designated locality.
* Complete clinical placements within the NHS.
* Participate in the training programme and achieve the required competencies.


Qualifications & Requirements

* Registered nurse or midwife.
* Right to work in the UK.
* Full DBS disclosure.


Head of English & Maths (College Staff)

Lead English and Maths strategy across the college, ensuring high expectations, strong teaching and ambitious learner outcomes. Position based in Barnstaple.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead English and Maths strategy.
* Champion high aspirations for all learners; drive progress and achievement.
* Line‑manage and inspire the curriculum team.
* Use data to improve attendance, engagement and outcomes.
* Coordinate delivery with Heads of Faculty.
* Ensure provision meets national benchmarks.
* Support recruitment, CPD and performance development.
* Actively participate in college leadership and life.
* Teach specialist subject hours.


Qualifications & Requirements

* Degree (or equivalent).
* Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent).
* GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Proven curriculum leadership experience.
* Strong communication and relationship building skills.
* Resilient, reflective and confident leading change.
* Passionate about education aligned with values of respect, community and empowerment.
