The Transport Solutions Modeller is accountable for providing optimum weekly base schedules across Primary and Retail operations, whilst seeking wider synergy opportunities with FH&B to generate value for M&S.
The role will continually evaluate; service levels, volumes, RDC requirements (inbound profile, capacities etc), supplier requirements, store estate profile changes, equipment replenishment and event management within a defined region, whilst continually seeking to deliver tactical initiatives.
The Transport Solutions Modeller will operate Paragon and Enterprise systems, working collaboratively with the NPC/LPC, RDC Transport Teams, Retail Service Managers and Primary Commercial team.

Role details:
Salary: Competitive
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working pattern: Monday - Friday with flexibility to meet the business needs
Location: Gist Limited, Rosewood, Crockford Lane, Chineham Park, Basingstoke, RG24 8UB
What you’ll do:
10. Ownership and governance of the schedule database for Suppliers (including equipment), RDC inbound and Store deliveries within the allocated region
11. Monitor KPI’s and ‘Plan v Actual’ performance; taking necessary action to adjust the base plan where required
12. Continuously review the regional base schedule operating plan, aligned to seasonal volume adjustments ensuring that service levels and performance metrics are delivered in full
13. Builds regional solutions for Event planning including Peak to ensure that the region is set up for success
14. Provides RDC Transport teams with driver and vehicle base and seasonal resource requirements to facilitate proactive resource management
15. Works collaboratively with Retail, Primary and Change teams to model solutions related to network changes e.g. new suppliers, store openings and tactical initiatives.
16. Identifies regional opportunities to enhance network efficiency and drive continuous improvement across both Food & FH&B transport networks
17. Provide necessary costing information to enable the Commercial and Change teams to evaluate and prioritise initiatives
18. Undertake scenario-based modelling to determine future investment decisions e.g. Network design and fleet renewal (trailer type)
19. Collaborate with the IT team to test new systems, identify and resolve underlying issues
Who you are:
20. Knowledge of chilled transport logistics networks including experience within transport planning
21. Ability to take a fresh and innovative view to problem solving and analysis
22. Analytical approach to review effectiveness and efficiency of current network
23. Experience of relevant network planning systems – e.g. Paragon & Enterprise
24. Advanced user of Transport execution systems – Microlise
25. Demonstrate a strong foundation in IT and data management
26. Ability to manage and prioritise a broad range of initiatives
27. Good communication skills, demonstrating the capability to engage with internal stakeholders, suppliers and Retail
