Job Summary
The opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to join our friendly and hardworking team at this busy medical practice. The ideal candidate will be a good team player with excellent organisational and communication skills, able to work under pressure in a busy environment whilst maintaining a mature, polite and responsible manner.


Responsibilities

* Present a professional and caring attitude, providing a high standard of service to meet patients’ needs.
* Demonstrate hardworking and motivated behaviour, working well individually and as part of the team, ensuring all practice policies and procedures are followed.
* Communicate efficiently with patients, the practice team and external organisations.
* Assist patients in accessing appropriate services or healthcare professionals in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
* Provide general assistance to the practice team, presenting a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors, both in person and via telephone.
* Administration: maintain thorough knowledge of all practice procedures, work in accordance with written protocols.
* Reception: process appointment requests, deal with home visit requests, receive patients, hand over completed prescriptions and check details.
* Prescribing: process repeat/acute prescription requests, answer the telephone for prescribing when required, perform related administration work.
* Data‑input: update patient details, record test results, manage patient call and recall system, scan letters, QAIF, and enhanced services.
* Telephone: manage the telephone system during and after hours.
* Other tasks: stock clinical rooms, undertake additional tasks as directed by the line manager.
* Support health & safety, equality & diversity, personal development, quality, communication, and audit activities as outlined in the full policy details.


Qualifications

* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths (desirable).
* Good interpersonal and communication skills (essential).
* Experience working in a GP practice (desirable).
* Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel (desirable).
* Understanding of confidentiality, health & safety and equality & diversity policies.


Contract & Working Pattern

Permanent, full‑time, flexible working.
