Electrical Design Engineer – Newcastle upon Tyne
About The Role
Join Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick as an Electrical Design Engineer, working on large‑scale infrastructure projects across the UK. This role can be based from any of our regional offices in England and Scotland.
Responsibilities
* Create electrical designs and procure specialist packages in heavy industries.
* Design LV electrical distribution systems.
* Develop specifications & datasheets, cable calculations & schedules, and drawings (via CAD team).
* Review manufacturer documentation for compliance with project specifications.
* Maintain relationships with technical consultants and suppliers.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proficiency in Trimble (Amtech) ProDesign.
* Strong collaborative skills with project teams to deliver cost‑effective design solutions.
* Excellent communication and clear, concise written skills.
* Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
* IT competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) and other relevant software.
* Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and regulatory material.
* Experience in heavy industries such as petrochemical, power generation, renewables, and nuclear.
Beneficial Experience
* Design of HV electrical systems.
* Use of AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux or Relux, SKM, ETAP, Digsilent, PSCAD.
* Experience with ATEX system design.
