Working across the Museum of Natural History and the History of Science Museum as part of the Museum Digital Collections function within the GLAM division, this role combines system administration, maintenance of collections information standards and user support for two instances of the EMu Collections Management System.
The postholder will work closely and collaboratively with a range of colleagues, translating collections practice and operational requirements into data workflows and system enhancements. The role also involves communicating on technical matters on behalf of the museums with the system vendor and other technical teams within and outside the University, and representing institutional requirements in relevant divisional and project meetings as part of the ongoing development and improvement of the digital collections systems and service.
The role involves the development, maintenance and implementation of data standards to improve the quality and availability of collections information for collections care, research and public engagement. It also entails the associated system configuration, formulation of customisation requests and the development of policies and processes supporting consistent and effective collections information management.
Other duties include user administration, user training, troubleshooting, bulk data updates and imports, maintaining and developing documentation, quality assurance of collections information and system configuration, reporting and monitoring of system performance and usage, and contributing to roadmap and institutional policy development.
This is an opportunity to work in a varied environment, make an impact on systems and processes, and contribute to the realisation of our strategic aims.
