The Post holder will work as part of the ABMU Perinatal Response and Management Service (PRAMS) to delivery specialist mental
Health Assessment, risk assessment/management and evidence based interventions to women (and families) experiencing, or at
significant risk of, perinatal Mental Illness. The role includes:
• Providing advice, consultation & education to a wide range of professionals, whilst promoting the Perinatal Mental Health agenda and
challenging stigma.
• Provide care in line with requirements
Due to this being a new and rapidly developing service, the role will involve contribution to service development and quality
improvement initiatives within the service.
Main duties of the job
• Carry out specialist perinatal mental health assessments including comprehensive risk assessment/management plans so that
people referred may be offered appropriate interventions, treatment, which may include signposting to other services.
• To co-produce with the patient an agreed plan of action to meet the needs identified within the assessment.
• Provide specialist perinatal knowledge and advice to partner agencies and services e.g. GPs, mental health teams, Social Services,
Midwives, Health Visitors, Voluntary/non statutory sector and others as required.
• Provide a range of evidence based psychologically informed interventions.
• Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings.
• To participate in in-house professional/service development meetings and to contribute to the development of local policies and
perinatal service developments.
• To participate in joint-working arrangements with other statutory and third sector organisations in delivering appropriate services.
• Will provide statistical information/returns as required and within required timescales.
• Ensure effective communication across all parts of the mental health service in particular across service interfaces with the LPMHSS,
CMHT and CRHT.
• Will be required to maintain an up-to-date professional level of knowledge with reference to evidence-based practice and current
trends in mental health care

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
1. Evidence of relevant core profession i.e. RMN, Social Worker, OT and registration with relevant professional body.
2. Experience of working in a mental health setting, including working with patients experiencing perinatal mental health issues.
3. Knowledge of evidence base relating to perinatal specific mental health issues, risk & management.
Desirable criteria
4. Formal therapies qualification i.e. CBT or similar.
Essential Experience
Essential criteria
5. Experience of safe and effective caseload management.
6. Knowledge of Welsh legislation in relation to the client group and mental health e.g. Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
7. Experience of delivering brief therapeutic interventions.
Desirable criteria
8. Experience of delivering services for people whose first language is Welsh.
