This role will supervise and provide a full QC service to Operations including analysis of incoming raw materials and outgoi n g Capa products. The role also requires the management of routine calibration and maintenance of equipment used both in the analysis of raw materials and products as well as in process analysis of production and effluent streams. The role will be responsible for the supervision of the Monomer shift Analysts and Polymer Quality Analysts. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The following responsibilities are associated with this job role but are not limited to: Manage team of analysts supporting both Monomer and Polymer production units. To carry out all aspects QC analysis required by the site. To observe legislative, safety, and environmental requirements of the Warrington site. To comply with Ingevity Group IT and confidentiality procedures & policies Possess wide knowledge / skills in key areas of responsibility to perform work and is also a source of reference for non-routine work. The job holder is expected to be proactive in executing assigned work with minimal guidance and be seeking opportunities to grow and develop as well as giving suggestions for new ideas for improving the working environment and is resourceful. To work with Production Supervisors and Warehouse Manager to both reduce and respond to customer complaints. WORK ASSIGNMENTS Safety To work and behave in a safe manner, at all times. To observe legislative, safety, housekeeping and environmental requirements of the Laboratory and wider Warrington site. Promote safety awareness within the working environment Preferably hold responsible roles / assignments related to safety (e.g. Lab PIC, Emergency response, etc) and is active. Aware and understand importance of the lab QMS and consequences of non-compliance to procedures and can suggest improvements / changes to work procedures to reflect / improve current practice. Comply to SOPs/WIs/Risk /COSHH Assessments and be proactive in making improvements Innovation To characterise polymer test samples synthesised by members of the Innovation Team Deliver agreed set of test/experimental data on-time or ahead of schedule with the amount of work that is expected. T o record information in lab note books / worksheets and other documents in accordance to procedures with supervision from superior. Operations Support To be able to characterize production samples from Monomer and Polymer Dep a rtments To be able to analyze raw materials us e d in plant production of Capa polymers To calibrate and maintain analytical equipment related to the production of To identify and report analysis trends potentially leading to out of spec material To carry out analysis related to technical customer complaints or internal production issues To step in and provide back up to shift analysts if. Highlight quality trends and have a proactive approach to process upset. Administration To protect confidentiality of information related to work within the company such that no unauthorized person can gain access. To comply with company IT and legal policies To ensure that all work carried out is recorded in the appropriate format and filed in the appropriate manner in order to ensure traceability. authority To plan and execute work tasks as agreed with the lab manager or a Chemist on a day to day basis Able to make judgements for work progress based on clear guidelines, precedents with minimal guidance. To procure laboratory chemicals and supplies from suppliers. To maintain the housekeeping of laboratory workspace and cleanliness of any equipment used. Equipment purchasing and review of service contracts, As agreed with Operations Manager. To fulfil the requirements of a lab Person In Charge (PIC QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE HNC in chemistry or equivalent or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Chemical process analytical techniques or chemical process analytical instrumenta tion Ability to use computer and approved software programmes such as Outlook, Word and Excel at basic level. Ability to manage a team and utilise available resources such as equipment/tools, time and information to achieve work-related goals.
