Position: Associate Legal Council Contract Type: Permanent – 37.5 hours Location: Flexible Join the UK’s premier parcel delivery company What you’ll do: To assist in or be responsible for negotiating and drafting legal terms of client contracts and supplier contracts. To support commercial negotiations undertaken by the business, ensuring that commercial terms are accurately reflected in contracts. To assist in mitigation of legal and regulatory risk in a dynamic company that operates in a fast-moving industry. Key Role Responsibilities: Drafting commercial contracts. Negotiating client and supplier contracts to meet the business’ preferred commercial and legal risk positions. Assisting in procurement tenders and contracting process to ensure that we have robust terms and conditions with suppliers. Participating in business projects to provide guidance and solutions with the aim that legal issues do not become barriers to progress. Assisting in compliance projects and the creation and presentation of training materials. Implementing contract approval and sign-off procedures. What We’re Looking For Solicitor with between 0 to 2 years’ post qualification experience, working with commercial organisations. A good grounding in commercial/contract law is essential and experience of negotiating, drafting and advising on long term service contracts and IT contracts is desirable. Capable of negotiating and drafting bespoke contracts to reflect unique commercial deals made by the business with third parties. An understanding of general business law such as data protection, intellectual property, TUPE, consumer protection law and competition law. The ability to apply law or legal principles logically to advise the make business decisions or assist others in making business decisions. Must have the capability to manage time effectively, re-evaluate priorities and be self-motivated. Must be credible, articulate and comfortable when dealing with people at all levels of the business.
