ActionPlas Ltd are seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Turner Setter to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines to manufacture precision components to customer specifications. This role plays an important part in ensuring high‑quality production, efficiency, and on‑time delivery of orders.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy manufacturing environment, be able to work under pressure, prioritise workloads effectively, and demonstrate strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Set-Up & Preparation
* Prepare and set up CNC turning machines according to production requirements
* Load and align tooling and fixtures, ensuring correct calibration
* Prove out CNC programs and complete first‑off inspections in collaboration with the Quality team
* Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to achieve dimensional accuracy
* Return tooling, fixtures, and materials to the correct locations at the end of each job
Operation & Production
* Operate CNC machines to produce components in line with technical drawings and specifications
* Monitor machine performance and resolve minor production issues
* Carry out in‑process inspections to ensure parts meet required tolerances
* Accurately record production data using ERP/MRP or shop floor data collection systems
* Work to achieve productivity, efficiency, and quality targets
Time Monitoring & Scheduling
* Monitor allocated job times and ensure tasks are completed within expected timeframes
* Escalate any delays or deviations that may impact production schedules
* Work in line with production plans and provide accurate feedback to Team Leaders and Production Planners
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure all work meets company quality standards and customer specifications
* Support quality inspections and report non‑conformances when identified
* Maintain accurate batch and traceability records
* Follow standard operating procedures and work instructions consistently
Maintenance & Housekeeping
* Carry out basic preventative maintenance and machine cleaning
* Report machine breakdowns or major issues to maintenance teams
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace in line with 5S standards
* Work with production teams to identify opportunities to reduce cycle times and scrap
* Provide feedback on tooling, programs, and fixtures to improve efficiency
* Support the training of junior operators and apprentices
* Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience setting and operating CNC turning machines
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
* Knowledge of tooling, feeds and speeds, and machine offsets
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
* Good communication and teamwork skills
