Overview
Be among the first 25 applicants. Telford & Wrekin Council are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and conscientious individual to join the Connect to Work programme, funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and delivered by the council. Connect to Work provides intensive support to people with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions or those facing other disadvantages to help them move into, or remain in, employment.
This role is customer facing and will be the first point of contact for many participants, dealing with phone calls, referral forms, emails and paperwork. You need to be a skilled communicator over the phone, in person and in writing, able to take and respond to referrals and provide basic information about the programme while being sensitive to customers who may face communication challenges.
We use a range of computer systems; you will need to be a confident computer user who can learn and adapt quickly. The programme involves collecting and processing a lot of customer information, so you will conduct data entry with great accuracy and minimal errors, while treating customer data with confidentiality and complying with the council’s data security and information governance policies.
This is an exciting time to join as Connect to Work is new; you will be at the very beginning, supporting development of the programme and its processes, suggesting improvements, and contributing to something that will make a difference for hundreds of local people each year.
This role offers a real mix of tasks, from dealing with customers to handling data, responding to enquiries, recording expenditure and petty cash. No two days will be the same and you will be busy and varied. You should thrive in a busy office environment and be able to balance many tasks with varying priorities.
If you think this sounds like a job you would love and you’re ready to work hard to help make Connect to Work a success for local people, we would like to hear from you. Experience in similar roles is advantageous but not essential.
For an informal chat about the role, please call Karen Harrison or Rachel Horth on 01952 382888.
